THE INTENSITY OF EWA HAUTON'S FEMININE PORTRAITS thrills the Galerie le Cube Vernet in Avignon

Listening to classical music, the sound movements of which are echoed in the breadth of her gesture, Ewa Hauton paints in oil and charcoal on canvas her large portraits of women. "It is the body, and essentially that of the woman, that inspires me ... the body in movement, in breath, in disappearances and appearances", says the painter (occasionally also sculptor and engraver). Both deeply expressive and transparent like a watercolor by Rodin, which the painter is fond of, the monochrome faces are delicate and a little fuzzy, among the clear lines of the hair carried by an air that one feels warm, conducive to intimacy. emotions reflected by physiognomies; facial expressions so intense that the emotion conveyed is almost physical. In some of the hair brushed by Hauton Peintre, the amateur thinks that he can distinguish a ray from the outrenoir of Pierre Soulages, of which she is an admirer; does she not also work in black with the light?

HAUTON PAINTER, FREEDOM DANCE WITH MASTERY at the Galerie le Cube Vernet in Avignon

The meeting of Ewa Hauton with the choreographer Evelyne Jolivet, of which she illustrates a work and with whom she realizes dance-painting performances, at a time when the two artists were questioning themselves on the theme of movement, is at the source of a prolific series of paintings in ink on paper inspired by dance. The intensely free life one feels in each artist's painting seems to break the distinction between nature and culture. Make no mistake about it, however: in Ewa Hauton’s painting, as in dance, this feeling of complete freedom comes at the cost of perfect technical mastery.

EWA HAUTON, A PAINTING OF THE MOVEMENT which animates the Galerie le Cube Vernet in Avignon

If Hauton Peintre sets himself the simple objective of living and sharing the joy of creation, the most perfect expression of this joy is found in movement, an element that strikes the eye as soon as he meets the painting. The painter captures and masterfully recreates the body which evolves in space, its vital energy, the fleetingness of a posture, the air displaced by the dance: "The subject is movement, the trace of passage. , the elusive (…) Suggesting wind, light, life… ”. In these ethereal and powerful works at the same time, always monochrome with only a touch of color whose solitude is the strength, like the impact of a ray of life splashing the moving body, the figurative sometimes touches the abstract, while at the same time suggestion: "I let the image speak for itself and not about me." I don't want to add too much, I try to keep only the essentials, "says Hauton painter.

Art lovers can admire the paintings by Eva Hauton on display throughout Europe and at the Galerie le Cube Vernet in Avignon.
