Abélardo Hernandez Alfonso

Abélardo is a contemporary visual artist, born in Cuba in 1966.

During his youthful years, he developed a taste for colorful, structured and plastic art. This is how today he creates colorful pictorial works, endowed with a third dimension by a collage technique. These fabrics thus associate materials such as crystal, metal, wood, cardboard, plastic or ceramic objects.

His favorite themes are portraits of emblematic characters from world cultures (geishas, ​​bullfighters, African beauties, sumos, etc.), iconic figures and celebrities from pop culture, and characters taken from famous paintings from the past. , for which he proposes a new form of appropriation by the spectator. It is in this that Abélardo has developed a universal art for many years, at the same time linked to his Cuban roots.

Exhibited in numerous galleries around the world during a very successful artistic career on two continents, Abélardo expresses through his works the celebration of hope and the passion for life.
