Bernard Cadène

Reknown Master of color, Bernard Cadène is permanently exhibited at the Galerie Le Cube Vernet in Avignon.

Bernard Cadene is not satisfied with half measures: “Polychromy or nothing! The colors are bright, happy, the music is your friend. Love and humor go hand in hand."

Bernard Cadène's unique career combining music and painting over the decades

Bernard Cadène, born September 9, 1942, is a French painter, sculptor and publicist. The grandson of a conductor, he is also the son of an accordionist and a mother who is a university professor in household arts. His parents want him to be an accountant, but already inspired by family traditions, he is passionate about music and, more personally, about painting. He studied the violin for 12 years, then the double bass, and in 1961 he joined the Museum of Toulouse. During the day he studies, at night he is a musician in various orchestras.

In 1967, he graduated as a drawing teacher at the Beaux-Arts, but chose to work in advertising and then in audiovisual production rather than teaching. He never stopped painting and succeeded. At the beginning of 1995, he returned to painting full time and never left the studio.

Bernard Cadène, an impressive track record, a unique career as a painter, visible in Avignon at the contemporary art gallery Le Cube Vernet

During his career, he won several awards: 18 first prizes for drawing and painting, Grand Prize for the chorus competition (1967). His work has been the subject of numerous personal exhibitions in France and abroad. Bernard Cadène is also a member of the Occitanie Academy of Arts, Letters, Sciences and Popular Traditions. Cadène masters include Picasso, El Greco, Bacon and Soulages.

In 1970, he began to paint in black and gray. This has always been a hallmark of his palette before working with an explosion of color in his work in 1995.

The authenticity of Bernard Cadène's pictorial art can be discovered and rediscovered at the Le Cube Vernet gallery in Avignon.

The colors are done by hand, using the brush as a stick. Music is born from movement, it fascinates and hypnotizes. All of Cadène's expressions reflect his eternal love of color, which he has been reinventing, step by step, for more than 60 years.

To date, Bernard Cadene has participated in 146 individual exhibitions and 82 collective exhibitions in France and abroad. His work is part of private and institutional collections in 26 countries.
