Lei Xue invites reflection on identity, innovation, and the dialogue between East and West.
Lei Xue is a Chinese multidisciplinary artist — sculptor, painter, photographer, and video artist — whose Drinking Tea series, launched in the early 2000s, transforms crushed cans into porcelain inspired by Ming aesthetics.
He creates a striking contrast between the millennia-old tradition of ceramic craftsmanship and contemporary fast-consumption culture, inviting reflection on the evolution of daily gestures and meaningful objects.
