DEMAITER
Born in 1972 and trained in applied arts in Roubaix and then at the Gobelins in Paris, Damien Demaiter first put his sense of composition to work for communication agencies before returning to painting. Drawing on the abstract expressionism of Basquiat, Keith Haring and Karel Appel, he layers materials and "chromatic impacts" on canvas, wood, sculpture and installations. Exhibited in Brussels, Lille and as far afield as Germany, Switzerland and Morocco, he presents his vibrant world at Galerie Le Cube Vernet, in Avignon.

Biographie
Damien Demaiter, Contemporary Abstract Expressionism | Galerie Le Cube Vernet
A painter of vibrant abstract expressionism, Damien Demaiter is presented by Galerie Le Cube Vernet in Avignon. His organic compositions combine materials, colours and "chromatic impacts".
From Applied Arts to Art Direction
Born in 1972, Damien Demaiter found in drawing and painting a favoured means of expression from an early age. His studies took him from the applied arts schools of Roubaix and Renoir to the Gobelins in Paris. He then put his graphic talent to work for prestigious Parisian communication agencies, where he refined his sense of harmony and visual composition.
A Return to Painting
Back in his home region, he founded his own agency while reconnecting with his first artistic love. His studio soon took shape and his works were featured in numerous exhibitions. Without belonging to any specific movement, he draws inspiration from neo-expressionists such as Basquiat, Keith Haring and Karel Appel, as well as from masters such as Schiele, Soulages, Hopper and Chagall.
An Organic Style and an Experimental Technique
His intuitive compositions play with scraping, splashing, collage and layered materials. His art thrives on an explosive mix of colours and textures, on supports as varied as canvas and wood, as well as in sculptures and installations. His "chromatic impacts" give his works a unique dynamic, between spontaneity and meticulous control.
Growing Recognition
Damien Demaiter has exhibited at venues such as the Centre Culturel Monet Rollinat, Le Balthasar in Brussels and the ART UP Lille fair. He is also involved in charity initiatives such as SOLID'ART Paris and Montpellier. As patron of the 2023 edition of SOLID'ART Lille, he made a lasting impression with his monumental 18 m² fresco "ÉPISTOLA". His work now reaches an international audience, with projects in Germany, Switzerland, Luxembourg and Morocco.
