About the artwork: Little Petrol by Liliane Demeester

Little Petrol by Liliane Demeester: an original and unique ceramic sculpture, a volume in matte petrol blue folds in on itself like drapery, pierced by a round opening that lets the light through. Its edges ripple and fall into soft points, giving the piece a presence that is both compact and alive. Discover Little Petrol by Liliane Demeester at Galerie Le Cube Vernet in Avignon.

About the artist:

Forms arise automatically from her intuition, as if guided by the clay.

Liliane Demeester, born in Bruges in 1958, is a contemporary ceramic artist renowned for her organic and vibrant sculptures. Trained at the Academy of Fine Arts. Her creations are inspired by natural forms — water, wind, body, plants, rocks — and emerge from a subtle balance between mastery and spontaneity. The matte finish of her pieces enhances the depth of the colours and the play of light, giving each work a unique and poetic presence.

Through her layering techniques and intuitive approach to clay, Liliane Demeester brings to life moving forms that seem to shape themselves. Active on the European art scene for several decades, she exhibits in Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and in Avignon at Galerie e Cube Vernet, where her work continues to inspire artists and collectors.
