About the artwork: Woman lying on her side over a vase by Maurizio Mastromatteo
Woman lying on her side over a vase by Maurizio Mastromatteo: an original and unique ceramic sculpture, a woman stretched full length over a round vase, her arms wrapped around its curve, with simple, pared-back forms, frozen in a moment of calm and reflection. Covered with a metallic lustre with copper reflections, the sculpture catches the light, while the vase reveals bluish glints. In Woman lying on her side over a vase, figure and vessel merge into a single form. Discover Woman lying on her side over a vase by Maurizio Mastromatteo at Galerie Le Cube Vernet in Avignon.

« My sculptures speak of silence. They are born from emptiness and pause. »
MASTROMATTEO is an Italian sculptor born in Florence in 1974. Working with ceramics since 2008, he shapes silent human figures, often seated or suspended in time. His practice combines artisanal tradition, graphic symbols, and metallic surfaces using the lustro technique. In his works, the gesture is simple, the presence is strong, and each piece invites introspection.
