About the Artwork:
Original artwork by the artist Daniel Airam, combining classical aesthetics with contemporary intervention. It features a human figure wearing a cape, holding a staff, walking alongside a dog through a green landscape with a path and hills in the background. The artwork is intentionally marked with engraved inscriptions and graffiti such as “Camino”, “Campus Stellae” and the date 1975, evoking the Camino de Santiago. The lower part of the painting presents a colorful checkerboard, contrasting with the traditional painting and adding a modern, conceptual dimension.

“The persistence of graffiti and the immutable beauty of the Flemish portrait, both derived from codified systems, celebrate uniqueness and share a common memorial function. The brilliance of the painting, close to glass or epidermis, protects a fragile world while offering a space for creative tension. Parietal art, wrapped in silence, remains a visual encounter of timeless power.”
Born in 1958 in Lyon, Daniel Airam began with graphic arts studies before working in printing from 1975 to 1982. From that date, he devoted himself entirely to engraving and participated in numerous exhibitions in France, Europe, the United States, and Japan.
Over time, he incorporated painting, sculpture, and video into his practice, expanding his means of expression. His work today revolves around reflection on images and signs, exploring their forms and meanings.
