CZESLAW ZUBER BETWEEN TECHNICAL MASTERY AND EXPERIMENTATION, to be seen at the Galerie le Cube Vernet in Avignon

To break with a sledgehammer or a diamond saw huge blocks of crystal is to break with the idea that human beings have complete control over glass. Zuber Verrier then polishes, engraves and hollows out the chosen piece with a sandblast before painting it. He had to invent a special paint, mixed with a mysterious product that protects it from light, to obtain good resistance over time while avoiding excessive opacity which would harm the transparency of the glass. Discovery and experimentation are driving forces for the artist, who tried to marry glass and granite, to decorate his pieces with oil paint (too opaque) and even produced a series of bronze pieces acquired by artists. Japanese collectors. The material-glass, to become a work of art, requires a work in mixed media, which does not displease the plastic artist, designer, sculptor, painter, ceramist and illustrator that is Zuber Artist.

THE NAIVE ART OF ZUBER VERRIER INVESTS THE COMPLEXITY OF MATERIAL at the Galerie le Cube Vernet in Avignon

Naive Art or Art Brut? Perhaps the two need to be mixed to cope with the complexity of glass as an art material. Imaginary living beings, colorful phantasmagoric bestiary in which the convolutions of an animal's tail make an eye, the trunk of a palm tree makes a nose, all resulting in an exuberant head which comes alive thanks to the play of light through the crystal and optical effects produced. Power, strength, exuberance, Czeslaw Zuber's abounding imagination produces different paintings that give birth to multiple images in this material as solid as transparent. The art lover in possession of a Zuber Artist sculpture will easily find where to display it: these expressionist, optimistic and colorful heads can find their place from the veranda to the child's room.

Czeslaw Zuber's sculptures can be found in a large number of museums, including the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, and are exhibited across the world, from Europe to Asia to the two America
