Original artwork by the artist Elia Pagliarino, created using a double-firing process, this Balise is inspired by the fate of the Aral Sea, a symbol of one of the greatest ecological disasters of the 20th century, whose ship graveyard in Moynaq, Uzbekistan, stands as a poignant memorial.

About the artist:

Elia Pagliarino is a French visual artist born in 1967 whose work explores the notions of identity, appearance and collective memory. Coming from an environment marked by diversity and disability, she draws inspiration from ethnology, biology and popular culture to create works combining drawing, sculpture and ceramics. After a career in graphic design and scenography, she has devoted herself entirely to art since 2014.

Her work stands out through collections such as the Balises©, ceramics preserving life stories, and the Contes Sauvages, large drawings depicting an exuberant human bestiary. Winner of the Pure Art Prize in 2017, she continues to explore new artistic forms from her studio in the Aude region.
