About the artist:
“Through my creations, I strive to capture the beauty and sensuality of my subjects.”
Born in France in 1957, Olivier Duhamel is a French figurative sculptor who settled in New Zealand in 1987. After numerous travels across Europe, Central Africa and the South Pacific, he established himself on Waiheke Island, near Auckland, where he lives and works.
Passionate about human morphology, Duhamel masters the representation of the body, expressed through sculptures in bronze, wood and acrylic. He is particularly known for his innovative laminated technique, where layers of wood or resin, laser-cut, are manually assembled to create detailed and expressive three-dimensional forms.
