Born in France in 1957, Olivier Duhamel is a French figurative sculptor who moved to New Zealand in 1987. After extensive travels across Europe, Central Africa, and the South Pacific, he settled on Waiheke Island near Auckland, where he lives and works today.

Passionate about human morphology, Duhamel perfectly masters the representation of the human body, creating sculptures in bronze, wood, and acrylic. He is especially known for his innovative laminated-wood technique, where wooden or resin sheets, laser-cut, are manually assembled to create detailed and expressive three-dimensional forms.
