Born in France in 1957, Olivier Duhamel is a French figurative sculptor who settled in New Zealand in 1987. After numerous travels across Europe, Central Africa and the South Pacific, he settled on Waiheke Island, near Auckland, where he has lived and worked ever since.
Passionate about human morphology, Duhamel masterfully represents the human body, exploring it through sculptures in bronze, wood and acrylic. He is particularly renowned for his innovative laminated technique, where laser-cut layers of wood or resin are assembled by hand to create detailed and expressive three-dimensional forms.
