Born in France in 1957, Olivier Duhamel is a French figurative sculptor who settled in New Zealand in 1987. After numerous travels across Europe, Central Africa, and the South Pacific, he settled on Waiheke Island, near Auckland, where he has been living and working ever since.
Passionate about human morphology, Duhamel has mastered the representation of the body, which he expresses through sculptures in bronze, wood, and acrylic. He is particularly recognized for his innovative laminated wood technique, where wood or resin panels, laser-cut, are manually assembled to create detailed and expressive three-dimensional forms.
