About the artwork:
Original artwork by the artist Elia Pagliarino, created using a double-firing process, dedicated to Georgia O’Keeffe, a major modernist painter of the 20th century. After the death of her companion, photographer Alfred Stieglitz (for whom she served as a muse in more than 350 portraits), she settled in Abiquiú, New Mexico. Captivated by the light and the vastness of this desert, she painted this epic landscape tirelessly, considering it a place that made one “feel like a rocket.” O’Keeffe translated the intangible feelings within her through abstract forms, believing that abstraction expressed most precisely her sensations when faced with the “prodigious” space between earth and sky.
